Moving Forward Hand in Hand

The restart of HABA FAMILYGROUP is in full swing. It is crucial for the traditional company from Upper Franconia to rely on its long-time suppliers during its restructuring.

The HABA FAMILYGROUP is currently going through the most challenging period in its more than 85-year history. The family-owned business from Bad Rodach is currently reorganizing under provisional self-administration, with the goal of restructuring the toy and furniture manufacturer by the middle of next year. In this endeavor, the company's own employees are more important than ever, but also the close and trusted relationships with long-standing partners and suppliers.

A prime example is Kuttner GmbH & Co. KG Möbelfabrik from Seßlach, which has been supplying HABA for nearly four decades. The supplier of veneered wood, coated finished parts, and complete furniture has been working closely with the company since 1985, with its 40 employees. Both companies appreciate short lead times, flexible agreements, and minimal transportation distances. Like the HABA FAMILYGROUP, Kuttner Möbelfabrik is also a family-owned business, placing great importance on natural materials and sustainability. "For us, wood is the most beautiful material one can imagine – not only for children," emphasizes Benjamin Kuttner, Managing Director of Kuttner GmbH. "We have been working in a trusting partnership with HABA for decades and are supporting our partner with full commitment during this challenging time, just as they would for us."

The collaboration with Sägewerk Gustav Deblich OHG has an even longer history, spanning 55 years. Many toys and furniture produced by HABA at its Bad Rodach location have their origin in beechwood from this very sawmill. As a family-owned business now in its sixth generation, this company is one of the oldest suppliers to HABA. "We owe a great deal to the HABA FAMILYGROUP. We began as a small sawmill with eight employees and grew alongside HABA. Now, 24 people work for us," says Managing Director Michael Deblich. "In the spirit of those who came before us and with a responsibility toward the new generation, we will do everything to support the HABA FAMILYGROUP in its fresh start. I am confident that the company, with its motivated employees, will definitely find its way back to success."

Both family-owned companies are supporting the new beginning of the HABA FAMILYGROUP with the same dedication as the workforce at the Bad Rodach location itself. In the future, the HABA FAMILYGROUP will focus on its two core segments, HABA and HABA Pro Kindergarten furniture, producing sustainably made toys and furniture of the highest quality. The initiated self-administration is a qualified restructuring process available only to companies facing financial difficulties but with promising prospects for a sustainable recovery.
